ITA COSUF Committee on Operational safety of underground facilities. WELCOME to the UPTUN-home page UPTUN is the acronym for Cost-effective, Sustainable and Innovative Upgrading Methods for Fire Safety in Existing Tunnels; a European RTD-project funded by the European Commission in FP5. The UPTUN project main objectives are: To develop innovative technologies where appropriate and where relevant comparing to and the assessment of existing technologies for tunnel application. Focus is on technologies in the areas of detection and monitoring, mitigating measures, influencing human response, and protection against structural damage. To develop, demonstrate and promote procedures for rational safety level evaluation, including decision support models; and knowledge transfer.
